15th National Prize for the Arts (AFAM) Explores the Theme of Travel

The 15th edition of the Premio Nazionale delle Arti (PNA) for AFAM (Alta Formazione Artistica e Musicale) is themed around travel, titled "Tempo di Viaggio (habitat contemporanei per il nessun dove)." The prize, organized by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, is hosted by the Accademia di Belle Arti "Mario Sironi" in Sassari. The figurative, digital, and scenographic arts section will take place from December 3, 2021, to January 15, 2022, at Mas.Edu, a former industrial building turned art laboratory. The theme draws inspiration from Andrei Tarkovsky's 1982 documentary "Tempo di Viaggio," co-directed with Tonino Guerra. The prize aims to regenerate artistic talent after the COVID-19 lockdown, emphasizing travel as an essential means to experience the other and as a platform for knowledge. The essay by Antonio Bisaccia, president of the National Council for Higher Artistic and Musical Education, delves into philosophical reflections on travel, referencing Huysmans, Saramago, Baudrillard, Chatwin, and Proust.
