157 Migrants Rescued from Burning Boat in English Channel

On Tuesday, French and British vessels rescued 157 migrants after their boat caught fire while attempting to cross the English Channel. The incident occurred on the boundary between French and British waters, forcing occupants to jump overboard. No casualties were reported. The migrants had departed from the coastal village of Veules-les-Roses in Normandy on Monday. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) launched a lifeboat at 6am in response. This is one of the largest rescue operations since records began in 2018. So far this year, 14 people have died attempting to cross the Channel, according to official French and British sources.
