14th Shanghai Biennale Announces Theme Cosmos Cinema and Curatorial Team

The 14th Shanghai Biennale, titled Cosmos Cinema, will take place in 2023, organized by the Shanghai Biennale Organizing Committee. Chief curator Anton Vidokle leads an artistic team including curators Zairong Xiang, Hallie Ayres, and Lukas Brasiskis, with Ben Eastham as publications editor. The exhibition explores the relationship between humanity and the cosmos, drawing parallels between cinema and cosmic phenomena. It features a diverse range of works including sculptures, films, installations, performances, and paintings by artists from China and around the world. The biennial aims to address alienation and encourage complex thinking about global challenges. The list of participating artists will be announced later.
