14 Artists Create Site-Specific Works Across 15 Historic Sites in Occitania

The eighth edition of IN SITU Patrimoine et art contemporain, organized by the cultural association Le Passe Muraille based in Montpellier, runs until September 29, 2019 across 15 historic sites in Occitania, southern France. Fourteen artists have been invited to create ephemeral, site-specific installations that dialogue with architectural heritage. Notable projects include Miguel Chevalier's generative virtual reality installation 'Digital Supernova' projected on the facade of Rodez Cathedral from August 8 to 18; Italian artist Matteo Nasini's 'Il Giardino Perduto' at the Abbey of Fontfroide, featuring fabric-wrapped columns and a tapestry titled 'La Verna'; and Abdelkader Benchamma's large mural 'Symétries et soupirs' at the Abbey of Lagrasse. Other participants include Basserode at the Mas-d'Azil cave, Lionel Sabatté at the Bédeilhac cave, Ugo Schiavi at the Palace of the Archbishops in Narbonne, Sandra Lorenzi at the Museum of Industrial and Mining Heritage, Roland Cognet at the Bambouseraie in Cévennes, Delphine Renault at the Château de Baulx, Sofie Muller at Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, Éric Michel at La Livinière, Victoria Klotz at the Collège-Séminaire du Puy, Art Orienté Objet at the Château Fort – Musée Pyrénéen in Lourdes, and Mircea Cantor at the Fortress of Salses.
