13th Berlin Biennale Announces 2025 Edition Titled 'passing the fugitive on'

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The 13th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art, titled 'passing the fugitive on', is kicking off on June 13, 2025, curated by Zasha Colah. This event will present over 60 artists and showcase more than 170 artworks at four different venues: the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Sophiensæle, Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart, and an old courthouse on Lehrter Straße in Berlin-Moabit. The exhibition's name suggests that art can define its own rules against oppressive systems, encouraging visitors to share the artworks' messages. It will feature various engaging communication methods, like performances, reading groups, lectures, and even comedy. The announcement includes a press release with Kikí Roca's image, 'Las Chicas del Chancho y el Corpiño, El Corpiño (The Bra)' (1995/2025), photographed by Marvin Systermans.
