130 Agnès Varda photographs on show at Musée Carnavalet in Paris
At the Musée Carnavalet in Paris, the exhibition 'Le Paris d’Agnès Varda. De-ci, de-là' showcases 130 photographs by Agnès Varda (1928–2019), many of which have never been displayed before. This exhibition is the result of over two years of exploration into her archives at the Institut pour la Photographie des Hauts-de-France and Ciné-Tamaris. Alongside the photographs, visitors can view film excerpts, documents, and personal items that illustrate her bond with Paris. The title is inspired by her remarks in 'Varda par Agnès' (2023). Her early works from the 1950s reflect her anti-conformist perspective. Varda served as the photographer for the Théâtre National Populaire in 1951 and resided at 86 rue Daguerre until her passing. The exhibition is open until August 24.
