exhibition · 2026-05-05

Christine Macel has selected 120 artists for the 2017 Venice Biennale, titled 'Viva Arte Viva,' opening in May. The list includes six Italians: Salvatore Arancio, Riccardo Guarneri, Michele Ciacciofera (Macel's partner), Irma Blank, Giorgio Griffa, and Maria Lai. Fourteen deceased artists and thirteen octogenarians are included. The youngest participants are Filipinas Katherine Nuñez (born 1992) and Issay Rodriguez (born 1991). For the first time, a sitting prime minister, Edi Rama of Albania, will exhibit. The selection emphasizes diversity across generations and geographies.
