1000 Gestalten zombie performance at Hamburg G20 summit
On July 5, 2017, the collective 1000 Gestalten, comprising over one hundred people meeting for the first time, staged a two-hour performance on the streets of Hamburg as the G20 summit was about to begin. Dozens of participants covered in clay moved like zombies—slow, unconscious, with vacant stares. Suddenly, one man broke free from the gray shell and regained his vitality, infecting the others in a final explosion of joy and empathy. The message, clearly received worldwide, concerns the possibility of building a better society free from the slavery of conformism and money, in search of a more authentic existence. The performance was documented in a video published by Artribune.
