Walter Tocci envisions Rome's archaeological future in 'Vision of Roma' video series

Walter Tocci, president of the Centro Archeologico Monumentale di Roma (CArMe), argues that Rome's ancient heritage can serve as a generative force for its future in the fifth episode of 'Vision of Roma,' a project by Spazio Taverna's School of Vision. Tocci reinterprets the Roman Forum not as a static tourist destination but as a dynamic public space and cultural infrastructure. CArMe aims to reconnect the contemporary city with its archaeological past through three principles: proximity of the ancient (temporal and spatial), multiplicity of the landscape (from underground to hills), and openness to the city via diverse pathways. The series, published on the School of Vision's official channels, collects visions of Rome's future from cultural professionals, including architects Labics, Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Stefano Boeri, and ACEA CEO Fabrizio Palermo.
