Viterbo and Tuscia Launch Bid for European Capital of Culture 2033

Viterbo, the capital of the Tuscia region in Alto Lazio, has officially put forth its bid for the title of European Capital of Culture 2033, forming a coalition that underscores its rich historical heritage. In 2033, the European Union will choose one city from Italy and another from the Netherlands for this honor. Although the Ministry of Culture has yet to make an official announcement, other cities such as Turin, Syracuse, Pesaro, Urbino, and Trieste have also shown interest. The initiative, named Viterbo Tuscia 2033, aims to foster social cohesion and innovation through shared heritage. On Sunday, July 12, from 4 to 9 PM, the Teatro dell'Unione will host the Festa della Candidatura, showcasing various cultural performances. Mayor Chiara Frontini highlighted the necessity of collaboration among institutions, culture, and businesses for a cohesive vision.
