US Mint Releases Declaration of Independence Quarter for America's 250th Birthday

The United States Mint will release a new quarter honoring the Declaration of Independence and Thomas Jefferson into circulation on June 1. The coin features Jefferson's profile on the obverse with the inscriptions "E Pluribus Unum," "In God We Trust," and "1776 ~ 2026." The reverse depicts the cracked Liberty Bell framed by "The Declaration of Independence," "Quarter Dollar," "Liberty," and "United States of America." This is the third of five special quarter designs commemorating the semiquincentennial, following the Mayflower Compact and Revolutionary War quarters. Future releases include the Constitution quarter with James Madison and the Gettysburg Address quarter with Abraham Lincoln. The Mint is also issuing redesigned dimes, nickels, pennies, and half-dollars, with the dime replacing Franklin D. Roosevelt with Lady Liberty and the half-dollar replacing John F. Kennedy with the Statue of Liberty's head. Additionally, the "Best of the Mint" series revives five historic coin designs from 1792 to 1907 as collector's items.
