The decision followed increasing dissatisfaction with her performance, particularly regarding her management of investigative documents connected to Jeffrey Epstein, the deceased financier and convicted sex offender. Reports indicate Trump was also displeased that Bondi did not expedite legal actions against individuals he viewed as critics or opponents. In a social media statement, Trump commended Bondi as a 'Great American Patriot and a loyal friend,' noting she would transition to a private sector role. He appointed Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, previously his personal attorney, to temporarily oversee the Justice Department. During her time as the nation's chief law enforcement officer, Bondi aggressively supported Trump's policies and eroded the department's historical separation from presidential influence in probes. However, persistent scrutiny over the Epstein records, including from Trump supporters and certain Republican legislators, defined her term.
