Tuscia Contemporanea Network Launches in Viterbo Province

A new contemporary art network, Tuscia Contemporanea, has been established in the province of Viterbo, Italy, with a manifesto declaring that art deserts centers and elects margins as its capital. Founded by fashion designer and entrepreneur Benedetta Bruzziches of Caprarola, the network aims to connect artists, curators, historic homes, universities, and institutions across the Tuscia region, moving beyond tourist promotion to highlight local identity through contemporary art. The network is structured as a lightweight, horizontal organization without a single artistic director, operating through three formats: numbered exhibitions (chapters of a single story hosted in different locations), open studio visits, and territorial experiences by reservation. A digital platform will provide a map of art in Tuscia with itineraries curated by artists and a committee. The debut exhibition, "Il Giardino di Gregor" (Gregor's Garden), curated by Antonio Arévalo, features German artist Gregor Becker, who lives and works in Soriano nel Cimino. It opens July 4, 2026, at the Museo di Palazzo Doebbing in Sutri and runs until October 18, 2026 (entry €10). The network's long-term goal is to become a recognized reference for contemporary art in central Italy between Rome and Umbria within five years.
