Trent Park House to Open as Museum Revealing WWII Espionage Hub and Interwar Glamour in Summer 2026
In the summer of 2026, Trent Park House located in North London is set to open its doors as a museum, highlighting its rich history as an elegant residence from the interwar period and a WWII intelligence hub. During the conflict, it accommodated 59 German generals, whose discussions were secretly recorded. Approximately 100 Jewish refugees, referred to as Secret Listeners, transcribed around 3,000 conversations in concealed basements. Redesigned by Sir Philip Sassoon in the 1920s, the house welcomed notable figures such as Winston Churchill and Charlie Chaplin. The museum will restore the state rooms to their 1930s style and unveil listening stations. The Trent Park Museum Trust oversees the project, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, which will also feature a café, gift shop, and educational space.
