Taylor Swift and Beyoncé enter National Recording Registry for first time

The Library of Congress has announced 25 recordings to be added to the National Recording Registry in 2026, including Taylor Swift's '1989', Beyoncé's 'Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)', The Go-Go's 'Beauty and the Beat', Vince Gill's 'Go Rest High On That Mountain', Weezer's 'Weezer (The Blue Album)', Chaka Khan's 'I Feel for You', and the original Broadway cast album of 'Chicago'. Acting Librarian of Congress Robert R. Newlen selected the audio treasures based on cultural, historical, or aesthetic significance. The inductees span 70 years of recorded sound, also featuring The Byrds' 'Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is a Season)'. This marks the first inclusion of Swift and Beyoncé in the registry.
