Taschen's Two-Volume Monograph Chronicles George Lucas's New LA Museum

Taschen has unveiled an extensive two-volume monograph dedicated to the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, which is designed by MAD and scheduled to open in Los Angeles on September 22, 2026. Edited by Jessica Hundley, the publication includes an introduction by Ryan Linkof, the museum's senior curator and head of film programs, as well as contributions from George Lucas and filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. It explores the museum's extensive collection that encompasses visual storytelling across various cultures, mediums, and centuries, featuring genres from sci-fi to Westerns, children's literature, fantasy art, and graphic novels. Notable artists such as Thomas Hart Benton, Jessie Willcox Smith, Frank Frazetta, Maxfield Parrish, and Norman Rockwell are highlighted, alongside a wealth of material from the Star Wars universe, including concept art and costumes. The monograph is thematically organized and showcases imagery from cave paintings to digital art. The Classic Edition, slip-cased and weighing over 6kg, is priced at $200 / £175, with a 45 Edition and a Piccolo edition also available. The museum itself occupies a 13-acre site in LA's Exposition Park, featuring 300,000 square feet of exhibition space. The book can be purchased through Taschen and the Lucas Museum.
