Study Reveals Most Mothers Are Absent From Family Photographs They Take

A survey conducted by European photo printing company CEWE found that over half of mothers in the U.K. rarely appear in their own family photos. The research involved more than 500 mothers aged 18 to 50 and revealed that 88% typically act as the family photographer, while 58% are almost never pictured. Practical challenges like difficulty including themselves with their baby were cited by 45%, and personal reasons such as dissatisfaction with appearance affected 4%. Two-thirds expressed sadness about this absence. Professional photographer Karen Wiltshire offered suggestions like using timers or selfies to help mothers be included more often.
