Analyzing nearly 700 recordings across 1.7 million km² in Australia, the study found that while banjo frog calls show significant variation in pitch and duration, this variation was not strongly correlated with habitat structure like tree canopy cover. The research suggests other factors such as microclimate, acoustic competition, and environmental noise may be more influential. The Australian Museum's FrogID project provided the extensive dataset, enabling large-scale ecological analysis.
