Student Poem Explores Familial Conflict Through Dante's Inferno Imagery

Gabriela Jatene, a final-year English major at Barnard College, Columbia University, has published a poem titled 'In the 9th Circle of Hell I Found My Mother.' The work uses imagery from Dante's Inferno to depict a complex maternal relationship, portraying the mother figure engaged in domestic tasks within the frozen ninth circle, traditionally reserved for traitors.
