Sigrid Undset's 'Jenny' Published in Spanish for First Time

Editorial Espinas has released the first Spanish translation of 'Jenny', the most autobiographical novel by Norwegian writer Sigrid Undset, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1928. Undset was the third woman to receive the Nobel, after Selma Lagerlöf (1909) and Grazia Deledda (1926). Born in Kalundborg, Denmark in 1882, she moved to Oslo as a child. Her father's early death plunged the family into financial hardship, forcing her to leave school and work. She later earned a grant to study in Rome, where she met her husband, Norwegian painter Anders Castus Svarstad (1869-1943). Her stay in Rome inspired 'Jenny', which critiques romantic love myths.
