Seven stops to celebrate Gulliver's Travels tercentenary in Ireland

Ireland is preparing a series of cultural events to mark the 300th anniversary of the first anonymous printing of Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels on October 28, 2026. Seven stops are proposed: a musical performance at Howth Castle on June 20; a visit to St. Patrick's Cathedral, where Swift is buried alongside Stella and where his epitaph invites travelers to imitate his defense of liberty; an exhibition at Trinity College starting July 1; the Marsh Library exhibition 'Gulliver 300. 1726-2026' running until September 12, featuring editions in Ukrainian, Chinese, and Japanese manga, as well as Swift's death mask; an exhibition at Dublin City Library & Archive during the Dublin Festival of History (September 26-October 11); the Robinson Library in Armagh displaying Swift's own annotated first edition; and the Jonathan Swift Festival in Dublin from November 18-26, with a preview on October 28. The festival includes talks, choir performances, debates, storytelling, a creative workshop, a night tour of the cathedral, and a gala dinner themed after the four lands in the novel.
