Segedunum Roman Fort Museum Marks 20th Anniversary with Staff Recollections

Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths and Museum first opened to visitors in June 2000. The institution planned to celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2020, but pandemic closures forced commemorations online. The site reopened on July 27, 2020. Staff and associates shared memories of the original opening, which featured re-enactors, a large marquee ceremony, and interactive exhibits. The museum complex includes a tower offering views of the river and area, reconstructed Roman structures, and galleries with archaeological displays. The anniversary reflections highlight the site's role in interpreting Roman history at Wallsend.
