São Marçal: The Day June Refuses to End in São Luís

In São Luís, Maranhão, the Encontro de Bois de São Marçal on June 30, 2026, marks its 99th edition, extending the June festival cycle with a celebration of Bumba Meu Boi. The event, held on Avenida São Marçal in the João Paulo neighborhood, features dozens of groups, especially from the matraca sotaque, and transforms the avenue into a participatory dance until dawn on July 1.
