Sandro Scalia Publishes Photographic Book 'Politij' Documenting Polizzi Generosa

Photographer Sandro Scalia has released a book titled 'Politij' featuring images of Polizzi Generosa, a village in Sicily's Madonie mountains. The volume, published by the local Biblioteca comunale, contains photographs taken between 2009 and 2025. Scalia, born in Ragusa in 1959 and now a professor at Palermo's Accademia di Belle Arti, focuses on his hometown's landscapes, architecture, and cultural artifacts. The project is part of a cultural regeneration initiative funded through Italy's PNRR recovery plan. The book presents natural scenes, historic buildings, and artworks while minimizing human presence, creating what philosopher Martine Gasparov describes as an exploration of raw mineral and vegetal elements.
