Russian strikes hit UNESCO heritage site Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

A series of Russian missile and drone attacks struck Kyiv on Monday, hitting the UNESCO-listed Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery complex and other civilian sites. The Kyiv City Military Administration reported five strikes in the Shevchenkivskyi district within 30 minutes, damaging a 25-storey apartment building, a market, and a grocery store. In the Obolonskyi district, a nine-storey residential building was directly hit. Twenty people, including a child, sought medical help. Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Tymur Tkachenko said Russia is deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure. Ukraine condemned the assault as 'brutal'. The Dormition Cathedral at the Lavra caught fire; firefighters extinguished the blaze.
