Railway Restoration Updates at Diesel Shop Facility

The Diesel Shop facility has completed several maintenance and restoration projects on railway equipment. Concrete was poured at the east end of tracks 21 and 22 to create additional workspace. Water pumps from spare parts stock were sent for rebuilding, with one destined for C&IM 30 and another for engine #2 on locomotive 515. Rear number boards fabricated by Bryan M were installed on CNW 7009, which also underwent inspection. The Chicago and North Western 4160 was reverted to its original Rock Island 4506 identity with magnet removal and number board swaps. United States Army 8537 received electrical repairs, engine room cleaning, mechanical inspections, and sand tank refilling. Additional work included cleaning on BN3, inspection and filter changes on IT 1605, and multiple repairs on C&IM 30 including prelube pump installation and wiring updates. Ingersoll Rand 91 traction motors were relocated for evaluation, and storage racking was set up for filters. The facility continues restoration efforts supported by donations to the Diesel Department Restoration Fund.
