Quebec Fans and Actors Rally to Save Les Simpson, Securing New Deal with Disney

Last August, Corus Entertainment's Télétoon chose not to renew the Canadian broadcasting rights for the 36th season of The Simpsons, putting the Québécois dubbed version, Les Simpson, at risk. This decision sparked protests from fans and actors, leading Joshua Biasotto to launch a Change.org petition that collected over 35,000 signatures. The Quebec adaptation is notable for its cultural relevance. Ian Lafrenière, the deputy premier of Quebec, voiced his support for the initiative, highlighting its importance. The campaign achieved success when Bell Media reached an agreement with Disney Entertainment in May, allowing the new season to debut on Sept. 9 on Noovo. While the dubbing industry flourishes, concerns about the effects of AI-generated dubbing on voice actors remain. Walt Disney Studios Canada confirmed that the show will continue to be dubbed in Quebec.
