Prado masterpieces go outdoors in wildfire-scarred Zamora
In the Spanish province of Zamora, the Prado Museum has introduced an outdoor art trail called “In a Place Being Reborn.” This initiative features 15 full-scale replicas of its renowned masterpieces, spread across 14 sites in Zamora, Sanabria, and La Carballeda. Developed in collaboration with the Provincial Council of Zamora, the project seeks to aid the region's recovery following last year's catastrophic wildfires. Each replica is displayed at its original dimensions, complete with a frame and descriptive label, effectively turning public areas into temporary extensions of the Madrid museum. The journey commences in the city of Zamora, showcasing Rubens’s striking Saint George.
