Parsons Graduates Launch Loose Buttons, an Envelope-Based Publication

Jen Liu and Moe Ebii, two Parsons School of Design students graduating in May 2026 with BFA degrees in Communication Design, have created Loose Buttons, a self-initiated publication distributed in designed envelopes. The project highlights underrepresented, woman-owned arts and fashion brands in New York City, with issues released approximately twice a year. The first issue in October 2024 featured an interview with Parsons typography instructor Charlotte Van Hardenburgh, while subsequent editions have spotlighted knitwear designer Grace Gui, nonprofit collective Dialective, and SoHo boutique Bomi. The publication's format includes interview transcripts, photographs, stickers, and buttons, drawing inspiration from the historical Aspen magazine. Both designers are currently completing thesis projects and seeking full-time positions post-graduation while maintaining internships at organizations including Human NYC and V Magazine.
