Oral History Interview with Artist Shirley Jaffe Conducted for Smithsonian Archives

In September 2010, art historian Avis Berman interviewed painter Shirley Jaffe at her Paris studio. This conversation was recorded for the Archives of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution. The interview forms part of a larger initiative documenting women's contributions to visual arts, supported by the A G Foundation. Jaffe later reviewed and corrected the transcript, which was edited by the archives for clarity. This oral history preserves the artist's personal recollections and insights.
