New Book Documents Color Palettes in Milan's Historic Residential Interiors

A new publication titled 'I colori della case. Milan Interiors 1923-1978' examines the chromatic choices in 65 iconic Milanese apartments designed by prominent 20th-century architects. Authored by Orsina Simona Pierini, a professor at Politecnico di Milano, the book reconstructs color palettes from archival materials, including sketches and photographs, for interiors that often no longer exist or have been altered. The study spans from the 1920s to the 1970s, analyzing works by figures such as Gio Ponti, Ettore Sottsass, and Nanda Vigo, and highlights how color usage reflected artistic influences and personal styles.
