Museo del Prado opens predoctoral contract for Filipino artists in Spain project

The Museo Nacional del Prado has announced a selective process for a predoctoral contract under the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2024-2027. The contract is part of the project "Agency of Filipino Artists in Spain (1764-1898)" and aims to support research towards a doctoral degree at the University of Seville. The selected candidate will assist with 19th-century painting collections at the Prado and may teach up to 60 hours annually at the University of Seville, with a maximum of 180 total hours under supervision. Requirements include Spanish or EU nationality (or legal residency for foreigners), enrollment in the University of Seville's History PhD program for 2026/2027, and expertise in Spanish art from 1764-1898, history of Spain and the Philippines, Prado collections, digital humanities, editorial tasks, historical documentation, digital tools and AI, advanced academic writing, English and Spanish at B2 level, and organizational skills. Applications must be submitted electronically via the General Electronic Registry of the State Administration (AGE) by June 25, 2026. The contract lasts four years full-time (40 hours/week), with possible extension to six years for disabled candidates. Annual gross salary starts at 56% of the salary for Technical Museum Specialist Level 1 (Group I) in the first two years, 60% in the third, and 75% in the fourth.
