Murals and Tributes to Indio Solari Appear Across Buenos Aires

The passing of the iconic Argentine singer-songwriter Carlos Alberto "Indio" Solari on June 5, 2026, at the age of 77 has sparked a wave of murals and tributes throughout Buenos Aires. Solari, renowned for his role as the frontman of the seminal band Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota, passed away at his residence in Parque Leloir, Ituzaingó, after battling Parkinson's disease for several years. A public funeral took place on June 7 at Microestadio José María Gatica in Villa Dominico, attracting thousands of fans who lined Avenida Mitre in Avellaneda. Local artist Risa created various murals in Villa Dominico, including one at a pizzeria named after the band. In Berisso, a mural at Aquí Club, where Solari performed in 1978, proclaims: "I am the Mister, a hero in Berisso," with fans leaving flowers and candles nearby. Additionally, political propaganda in Avellaneda has incorporated Solari's likeness, featuring the colors of the Argentine flag and slogans like "Indio. Thief of my mind." Los Redondos released ten studio albums that critiqued consumerism, capitalism, and state oppression. After their split in 2001, Solari produced five solo albums, with his final concert in 2017 drawing around 400,000 attendees.
