Mission Bern: Religious Buildings Lead Varied Selection of 100 Heritage Projects
Stéphane Bern's Mission Patrimoine has revealed 100 departmental initiatives as part of the ninth edition of Loto du Patrimoine. Among the chosen projects, religious sites account for 34%, an increase from 25% in 2025. A prominent recipient is the Church of Notre-Dame de la Compassion in Paris, established in 1843, which needs restoration due to pollution. Furthermore, 47% of the selected locations are unprotected monuments, such as the Marville swimming pool in Saint-Denis, which is set to transform into a cultural center. Seventeen châteaux, including Château d'Haroué, will also benefit. The total funding, derived from Loto du Patrimoine game proceeds, will be disclosed at the end of the year. Since its inception in 2018, the initiative has generated over 210 million euros, with 29 million raised in 2025.
