Minneapolis releases video contradicting ICE officers' account of January shooting

On January 14, a security video made public by Minneapolis officials depicts federal immigration agents pursuing a Venezuelan man to his residence, where another Venezuelan individual was shot. In February, federal charges against both men were dismissed after the video cast doubt on the officers' sworn statements. Two federal agents involved in the incident have since been suspended. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey remarked that the footage highlights inconsistencies between the federal narrative and the actual evidence, especially concerning Operation Metro Surge. According to The New York Times, federal investigators had access to the video shortly after the shooting but did not examine it until almost three weeks after the charges were filed. A criminal investigation is currently assessing whether the immigration officers provided false testimony under oath.
