Metropolitan Museum's 19th-century Korean painting Chilbosan to undergo conservation in Korea through joint initiative

A landscape painting from the Joseon period, called Chilbosan (Seven Jeweled Mountain), which is currently at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, will be conserved and remounted in Korea. This project is a collaboration between the museum and the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation, part of the Korea Heritage Service. The Samsung Foundation of Culture is tasked with the conservation work, reflecting its dedication to social responsibility. Chosen through the OKCHF's Conservation and Utilization Support Program, this initiative aims to highlight the value of cultural artifacts and advance global conservation efforts. Chilbosan depicts a mountain range in northeastern Hamgyeong-do, recognized for its distinctive landscape.
