Meditation Session Focuses on New Beginnings with Tibetan Artwork

The session incorporates a Tibetan woodblock print titled 'Buddha's Birth' from a set depicting the Twelve Deeds of the Buddha, created around 1979 at the Derge Printing House in the Kham region of Eastern Tibet. This artwork, part of the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art's collection as a gift from William Hinman, illustrates key moments including the Buddha's descent from Tushita Heaven and his birth as Prince Siddhartha. The print is based on designs by the late 19th-century painter Purbu Tsering of Chamdo, showing scenes such as the Buddha passing a crown to Maitreya, transforming into a white elephant, and Siddhartha's first steps with lotus blooms. The Rubin Museum promotes awareness of Himalayan art through initiatives, grants, and global exhibitions, with a collection of nearly 4,000 objects spanning over 1,500 years.
