Marie-Antoinette letter-writing campaign draws 4,000+ responses at Fontainebleau

In celebration of the 240th anniversary of the royal couple's visit to Château de Fontainebleau, a year-long project has culminated in over 4,000 letters addressed to Marie-Antoinette. Historian Cécile Berly spearheaded the "À vos plumes ! Écrivez à Marie-Antoinette" campaign, encouraging people, especially students from the U.S. and Canada, to write to the former queen as an intimate confidant. The initiative includes school workshops highlighting her influence as a fashion icon. The project concludes on July 4 with a picnic and ball in Fontainebleau's English garden, with select correspondence featured in a forthcoming anthology related to an exhibition showcasing the couple.
