Macaque Punch Forms Bond with Female Companion at Japanese Zoo

Punch, a young macaque at Ichikawa Zoo in Japan, has developed a relationship with a female monkey named Momo, also known as Moe-chan. The pair has been observed engaging in affectionate behaviors and playing together in their enclosure. Kosuke Shikano, Punch's caretaker, verified Momo's identity. While Punch continues to adapt to social dynamics within his troop and occasionally faces reprimands, zoo officials have stated he is not experiencing harassment or threats. The facility recently noted his playful activities with branches and requested that visitors maintain distance from the enclosure to reduce stress on the animals.
