Lukas Bärfuss' 'Königin der Nacht' Examines Maternal Cruelty

Swiss writer Lukas Bärfuss has published a new work titled 'Königin der Nacht' (Queen of the Night), in which he confronts his unloving mother. Following his earlier literary explorations of his brother and father, Bärfuss now turns to his mother, holding the system partly responsible for her failures. The book places itself within a literary tradition of examining difficult family relationships. The article, published in the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, also discusses literature from the Engadin region and questions whether the entire village is being sold.
