Jane Goodall Institute Announces Inaugural Global Day of Action on April 3

The Jane Goodall Institute has established the first Jane Goodall Day, scheduled for April 3, which coincides with what would have been the late conservationist's 92nd birthday. The event aims to honor Goodall's lifelong dedication to environmental protection and wildlife conservation by encouraging individual and collective action. Rather than focusing on a single initiative, the institute encourages participants to engage in activities meaningful to them, such as tree planting, community clean-ups, donations to environmental causes, adopting plant-based diets, or raising awareness through social media. According to Anna Rathmann, executive director of the Jane Goodall Institute USA, the day serves as both a tribute to Goodall and a call to continue her legacy through practical efforts. The observance will involve the institute's 30 international offices and numerous Roots & Shoots youth groups across more than 75 countries, which undertake community-focused projects. In the United States, the institute will host its first annual fundraising day, with donations made before April 3 being matched up to $300,000. The institute emphasizes that the day is intended to demonstrate how Goodall's commitment to animals, people, and the environment endures through active participation.
