Italian Historic Homes Drive National Economy, ADSI Assembly Reveals

Italy's historic residences play a vital role in the economy by fostering employment and attracting tourists. This was emphasized during the 49th Assembly of the Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane (ADSI) held at Teatro Argentina in Rome. Established in 1977, ADSI advocates for approximately 4,500 owners of historic properties. Key figures at the event included Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio, and Deputy Minister of Economy Maurizio Leo. Maria Pace Odescalchi, President of ADSI, pointed out that these residences bolster local economies and tourism. The VI Report revealed 46,000 private cultural properties, with 60% contributing to tourism, drawing over 35 million visitors in 2024. Owners cover 85% of maintenance costs, with restoration expenditures reaching €1.9 billion. The ADSI Thesis Prize recognized Elena Rizzico and Alessandro Piacentini for their outstanding work.
