IAEA Reports Fatal Strike Near Bushehr Nuclear Facility in Iran

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced on Saturday that Iran informed it of a projectile strike occurring near the Bushehr nuclear power plant. According to the agency, one physical protection staff member at the site was killed by a fragment from the projectile, and a building on the premises was impacted by shock waves and debris. The IAEA confirmed that no increase in radiation levels was detected following the incident. Rafael Grossi, the head of the IAEA, expressed deep concern over the strike, noting it marks the fourth similar event in recent weeks involving the Bushehr facility. The plant is situated closer to Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar than to Iran's capital. In response to the incident, Russia, which assisted in constructing and operates part of the plant, stated it was evacuating 198 workers. Iran's Tasnim news agency reported earlier on Saturday that the main components of the plant were undamaged and production remained unaffected.
