House of Secrets Museum Opens at Trent Park, Revealing WWII Spy Stories

The House of Secrets museum opens at Trent Park in Enfield, London, on July 21, 2026. The site was a WWII secret interrogation center where Jewish refugee spies, known as the Secret Listeners, covertly recorded conversations of high-ranking German POWs. Over 3,000 conversations were captured, aiding Allied breakthroughs including intelligence on the Enigma cipher, German targeting of munitions factories, and ballistic missile development. The museum recreates listening stations and restores opulent state rooms to their 1939 appearance under prewar owner Philip Sassoon, featuring artworks by John Singer Sargent and Philip de László. Director Giuseppe Albano emphasizes weaving together stories from 20th-century British history. The Trent House Trust, established in 2016, led the restoration.
