Historian Kateryna Hryshchenko to Lecture on Dnipro's Identities

On July 29 at 18:00, historian Kateryna Hryshchenko will present a lecture titled "From Sloboda to Outpost: The Diversity of Dnipro's Identities." This discussion will challenge the stereotypes of Dnipro as merely an "industrial giant" or "space capital," focusing instead on the evolution of Cossack sloboda freedom into a closed city and its current status as a Ukrainian state outpost. Hryshchenko, who holds a PhD in History and serves as a Senior Researcher at the Dmytro Yavornytskyi Dnipro National Historical Museum, will analyze the city's identity as a dynamic entity shaped by historical influences. She will explore the adaptability of local character, its enduring traits, and how recent changes due to the Russo-Ukrainian war reflect centuries of history.
