Helene Bukowski Launches Reading Tour for Novel Exploring Musician's Life and Death

German author Helene Bukowski is embarking on a reading tour across Germany to present her latest novel, 'Wer möchte nicht im Leben bleiben.' The book, which was nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize, investigates the life of Christina, a young pianist who died by suicide in Neubrandenburg in 1985. Bukowski traces Christina's journey from her upbringing under a father with ambitious dreams for her to her education at Berlin's music school and later at the conservatory in Moscow. The narrative explores themes of family pressure, artistic pursuit, and a medical condition only diagnosable today. Bukowski, born in Berlin in 1993 and a graduate of the Hildesheim Literature Institute, has previously published 'Milchzähne' (2019), adapted for film, and 'Die Kriegerin' (2022), with her works translated into multiple languages. She currently resides in Berlin and Niederlausitz as a freelance writer. The tour includes events in Hamburg on April 10 at Karoline, Berlin on April 15 at the Stasi-Zentrale/Campus für Demokratie, Berlin on May 7 at the Literarische Colloquium Berlin, Neustrelitz on May 8 at Frau Rilke Buchladen, Berlin on June 4 at the Literaturforum im Brecht-Haus, Ladenburg on July 2 at Glashaus um Reinhold-Schulz-Waldpark, and Freiburg on September 17 at the Literaturhaus Freiburg.
