Gonzalo Cabrera appointed new director of ARCOmadrid

Gonzalo Cabrera has been named the new director of ARCOmadrid, replacing Maribel López, who is leaving to lead the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona. Cabrera, previously IFEMA MADRID's Director of Culture and Education, brings nearly two decades of experience in cultural management, particularly in audiovisual and contemporary art. He has promoted support programs for artists, galleries, and collectors, and fostered collaborations with museums and market professionals. Cabrera holds a degree in Information Sciences from the Universidad Complutense and studied audiovisual production in London and New York. He produced cultural documentaries for Canal+ España and content for Movistar+, and until July 2025 served as Director General of Cultural Promotion for the Comunidad de Madrid. The rest of López's team will remain to ensure continuity, including Ruth Gómez (national and international gallery relations), Mario Navarro (curated programs), Carmen Tasende (special projects, architecture, sponsorships), Ana Álvarez (Forum and professional program coordination), M. Carmen del Peso (Guest program, art advisors, collectors), Gori Gómez (cultural spaces and institutions), and Pedro Vasconi (Fundación ARCO).
