German-Indian Spiritual Leader Arrested in Sicily Over Child Abuse Allegations

Italian authorities have apprehended a man of German-Indian background on suspicion of facilitating child abuse within an isolated community in Sicily. The arrest occurred following reports from Italian news agencies ANSA and Adnkronos on Thursday. The individual, described as a spiritual teacher or guru, led a group of approximately 15 people residing in a forested area near Cefalù on Sicily's northern coast. The community included two children, aged 7 and 11, who reportedly lived without proper schooling, vaccinations, electricity, and in unsanitary conditions. According to prosecutors, the environment exhibited signs of isolation and psychological manipulation. The children were allegedly required to perform nighttime guard duties around their dwelling. The suspect had been living in Sicily for nearly a decade, conducting spiritual gatherings with followers from Germany, Britain, and Italy. The case highlights concerns about child welfare and exploitation within secluded groups.
