French National Monuments Host Unusual Sports and Movement Events Across 30+ Sites

The Centre des monuments nationaux is transforming over thirty historic sites across France into venues for unusual, free sporting and movement activities for a weekend. At the Conciergerie in Paris, Olympic medalist Patrick Groc leads continuous fencing demonstrations. The Palais-Royal hosts the Paris Fire Brigade for gymnastics displays and children's swordplay sessions. A dance and sensory writing workshop takes place atop the Arc de Triomphe, while the Château de Maisons offers 18th-century dance lessons. The Villa Savoye in Poissy provides qi gong sessions within its modernist architecture. The Domaine de Champs-sur-Marne features a full day of guided walks, Tibetan bowl relaxation, and a concert by the Orchestre national d'Île-de-France. A climbing wall is installed at the Château de Pierrefonds. The Domaine national de Saint-Cloud hosts capoeira and tai chi. Yoga sessions are held at the Maison des Jardies in Sèvres. Regional highlights include Renaissance-style fencing at the Château de Talcy, Pierre Rigal's 'Ballet Jogging' at the Abbaye de Beaulieu-en-Rouergue, fitness circuits at the Cité de Carcassonne, yoga at the Villa E1027 in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, pétanque at the Château d'If in Marseille, and gentle gymnastics at the Abbaye du Thoronet. The initiative aims to offer a novel way to experience national heritage.
