France's 2026 Heritage Lottery selects 18 endangered monuments for restoration funding

On April 14, 2026, Catherine Pégard, the Culture Minister, revealed 18 regional locations for France's Loto du Patrimoine. Among these are Fort Boyard in Charente-Maritime and the Château de Médavy, which suffered fire damage in Orne. Additional sites include the 18th-century Moulin de l'Habitation Loyola located in French Guiana, the Art Deco Maison de la Culture de Bourges, and the cyclone-affected Mosquée d'Antana-Bé in Mayotte. Since its initiation in 2017, the Mission Patrimoine program has recognized over 7,000 sites at risk and has secured more than 380 million euros for restoration efforts since 2018. Details regarding funding for the 2026 sites will be disclosed on September 19-20, 2026, featuring four castles and four religious sites.
